THE HEAT IS ON

THE HEAT IS ON
The weather in Phoenix has been amazing this May, but we all know that the Sizzling Heat is just around the corner.  With that said there are a number of things you can do to prepare your vehicle for the rising temperatures and the monsoon rain and dust.  Stop by Bullitt Automotive – your automotive mechanic shopand we will guide you and help you out with the process.  Your vehicle will be grateful that you did and will serve you well.
1) Let’s start with the exterior of your car:
-Get a Wax: this simple measure can protect the paint of your vehicle from the sun, dirt, and water.
-Wash your car often: it is recommended that you wash your vehicle approximately once a week in order to protect the paint from dust and dirt.
-Cover your vehicle:  if you do not have a garage or covered parking space you should invest in a car cover.  This will truly protect your investment inside and out.  Always look for shaded parking spots when out and about.
-Wash and wax are things you can do yourself, but if that is not your cup of tea keep our sister company Southwest Collision in mind (located less than a mile from us).  Southwest Collision has a team of Detailers that can pamper your vehicle as you wish.
2) Check your battery:
-The heat can be brutal on your Battery.  Extreme temperature can cause the battery fluids to dry up.  It is important to check your fluid levels often and keep your battery nice and clean.  Bullitt Automotive would be happy to help you with you next Auto Battery Service.
3) Check your AC:
-Anyone who’s been stuck without a functioning cooling system in the Arizona summer will tell you: do whatever it takes to be sure that your vehicle’s AC is working properly.  Stop by and we will assess your cooling system and provide any necessary Auto Air Conditioning Recharge Service.
4) Change the air filter:
-You should have the air filter changed at the beginning of the summer and checked periodically.  You would be surprised how much dust gets trapped in the filter.  Not replacing the filter regularly will cause clogging and as a result will damage the engine. Stop by for an auto tune up near me.
5) Check your tires:
-You should check the tire pressure each time you fill up your vehicle.  Also check the tread.  If you see that the tread is near 3/32nd of tread you should replace the tires as soon as possible.  Driving on a low tread is dangerous.  At Bullitt Automotive – your affordable auto mechanic near me, we will change your tires and provide a Wheel Alignment Service.
6) Change the oil:
-You should have your oil changed in the beginning of the summer heat and have us at Bullitt Automotive check it for you periodically.  The high amount of dust in the Arizona air can wreak havoc on the viscosity of the oil and erode piston rings and seals.  Swing by Bullitt Automotive – your Oil Change Centerand we will take care of it for you.
These simple tips can help you and your vehicle get through the brutal Arizona Summer without breaking a sweat.
